After being released by the Delhi Capitals and making a spectacular return in the 2024 IPL, Rishabh Pant was acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, ushering in a new era.
In the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, the Lucknow Super Giants paid Rs 27 crore to acquire star Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. There was much speculation about Rishabh Pant’s future IPL destination when he was released from the Delhi Capitals.
Before this year’s auction, the Delhi Capitals released Rishabh Pant, ending his lengthy contract with the team. After Shreyas Iyer was injured and unable to play for the Capitals in 2021, Pant, who had been a member of the team since 2016, assumed the role of captain.
He continued to lead the squad with distinction after being kept on as captain for the 2022 Indian Premier League.
Rishabh Pant made a spectacular return in the 2024 Indian Premier League after he recovered from the serious injuries he had in a potentially fatal vehicle accident in December 2022. He made 446 runs throughout the season and was given back his captaincy of the Delhi Capitals. But in spite of his individual efforts, the team’s campaign was mediocre as well.
Since his potentially fatal vehicle accident in December 2022, Rishabh Pant had not participated in a Twenty20 International. He was included in India’s selection for the T20 World Cup later that year, though, thanks to his impressive IPL 2024 achievements, and he was instrumental in helping India win the tournament.
Rishabh Pant, 27, has amassed 3,284 runs in 111 IPL games, demonstrating his reliability and influence throughout the competition.
