All fashion designers “don’t have a film sense,” according to Manish Malhotra. He went on to say that he had loved movies since he was a little boy.
Manish Malhotra, a fashion designer, has provided an update on the movie. It was previously believed that he will make his directorial debut with a biopic on the late star Meena Kumari. According to Mid-Day, the biography has been shelved and Manish will not be directing it.
The Meena Kumari biopic won’t be directed by Manish Malhotra.
He stated, “I’m no longer doing the biopic,” in reference to the film. I’ll oversee another project. One desire that has not yet been realized is directing. Actor Kriti Sanon was said to be playing the late actor in the movie earlier this year by Mid-Day.
Speaking about the movie, Manish added, “Some fashion designers have a cinematic sensibility, but not all of them have. For me, it came naturally as I had always loved movies, whether it was Raj Kapoor and Guru Dutt’s flicks or Mughal-e-Azam [1960]. I like the music and fashion of the 1970s. I love watching movies. That’s why I understand how it functions.

About the biopic of Meena Kumari
The biopic has already experienced many delays. It was initially planned to launch in October 2023. Nevertheless, it was rescheduled for October 2024 and October 2025. The movie has been put on hold. “The material will be vetted by multiple script doctors before it goes into filming,” a source told Mid-Day earlier in July. The squad may benefit in certain ways from the delay.
This gives them plenty of time for pre-production because it’s a period drama. It will take time to recreate the costumes, which play a significant role in telling the tale of one of the best performers in Hindi film. In the first part of 2025, it will probably roll.
In a joint Instagram post in September, Saregama, Bilal Amrohi, and its other partners said that they were working on a biopic that would tell the narrative of Meena’s romance with her producer-husband Kamal Amrohi.
