With the highest rating points of any Indian fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah has ascended to the top of the ICC Test bowling rankings.
Jasprit Bumrah, the interim captain of Team India, reclaimed the top spot in the ICC men’s Test bowling rankings, which were made public on Wednesday. After taking eight wickets in India’s decisive 295-run victory over Australia in the current five-match India vs. Australia 2024 series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), Bumrah was named the “Player of the Match.”

After his outstanding second innings century in the Perth Test, Bumrah’s colleague and India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal moved up two spots to second place in the ICC Test batting rankings, almost missing out on the top spot.
At the Optus Stadium, Virat Kohli, the former captain of India, scored his 81st international century and 30th Test ton in the second innings, moving him up nine spots to 13th place.
Bumrah has surpassed Josh Hazlewood and Kagiso Rabada to record a career-high 883 rating points, the greatest rating points total ever by an Indian seam bowler, thanks to his five for 30 and three for 42 hauls. The only Indian bowlers to score more points are spinners Ravichandran Ashwin (904) and Ravindra Jadeja (899).

Bumrah has topped the charts for the third time this year. Beginning in February and continuing through October, he held the top spot for two consecutive months.
Centurions Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli are among the players who have benefited from India’s overwhelming victory in the first of five Test matches. While Kohli’s undefeated 100 has moved him up nine positions to 13th place after he was outside the top 20 hitters for the first time in a decade, opener Jaiswal has surpassed Harry Brook and Kane Williamson to reach a career-best second position after leading Perth in scoring with 161 in the second innings.
Mohammad Siraj rose three spots to 25th place in the bowling rankings, Nitish Kumar Reddy joined the batting rankings in 74th place, and KL Rahul rose from 60th to 49th place.
Following their exploits in Perth, Mitchell Marsh (up 10 spots to 68th among bowlers) and Alex Carey (up 1 spot to 39th among hitters) are among the other players to advance. Australia’s Travis Head has returned to the top 10 after scoring a valiant 89 in the second innings. Steve Smith fell to seventh place, his lowest since December 2014, after managing only zero and 17.
Following their 201-run triumph against Bangladesh in the first Test match at North Sound, West Indies players have also improved in the most recent weekly report. Following scores of 90 and 42, batter Alick Athanaze has risen 18 spots to 62nd place, while Mikyle Louis (up 25 places to joint-86th) and Justin Greaves (up 43 places to 81st) have also improved.
West Indies seamers Kemar Roach (up four spots to 17th), Alzarri Joseph (up three spots to 29th), and Jayden Seales (up three spots to a career-best 11th) have all received recognition for their efforts in Antigua.
In the batting rankings, fast bowler Taskin Ahmed moved up from 67th to 51st place with a second innings haul of six for 64, while Liton Das and Mominul Haque each moved up one spot to 32nd and 47th place, respectively.
Following Pakistan’s decision to rest Shaheen Shah Afridi for their tour to Zimbabwe, Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan has reclaimed the top place in the ODI bowling rankings.
Saim Ayub, the opener for Pakistan, moved up 80 spots to 90th place in the ODI batting rankings with his 62-ball 113 not out.
With 61.11 percentage points, India, the two-time finalists, has once again taken the top spot in the ICC World Test Championship standings following their triumph in the Perth Test. With 57.69 percentage points, Australia has reclaimed its second-place ranking.
