Adelaide Test: Rohit Sharma will either open or bat at number three in India’s batting order for the second Test match against Australia in Adelaide, according to Harbhajan Singh.
Ahead of the second Test match against Australia in Adelaide, India is faced with a delightful conundrum. They are keen to increase their advantage to 2-0 in the day-night Test after a resounding victory in Perth. But with two of their best hitters back after missing the first game, the visitors have a difficult decision to make. Harbhajan Singh, a former cricket player for India, offered his opinions on the subject as well as his predictions for the Indian batting order in Adelaide.
Due to his second child’s birth, Rohit Sharma was unable to play in the Perth Test, and Shubman Gill was injured. It is currently scheduled that both players will return to Adelaide for the second Test. The batting position of Indian captain Rohit is still up for question, although Gill is anticipated to replace Devdutt Padikkal at number three. The second innings in Perth saw a solid 201-run partnership between KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Rahul faced 250 deliveries in two innings and appeared calm at the wicket.
The question of whether the openers should be replaced following their impressive showing in the previous Test is still up for debate. Harbhajan Singh, though, thinks Rohit Sharma may bat first or come in at number three. “I don’t see Rohit coming in at number five or six,” he says, expressing his opinion that Rohit shouldn’t be relegated to such positions in the order.

Rohit will either bat at number three or start alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, with KL Rahul following at number three. Rohit would not be the team’s best option at number six. On the sidelines of an event, Harbhajan told PTI, “Your top four in the batting order should be the four pillars, and someone like Rohit at the top would only add greater fillip.”
In Adelaide, where India suffered a historic collapse the last time they played a day-night Test, losing after reaching their lowest-ever Test total of 36, the second Test between Australia and India is scheduled to start on December 6.
