Day 1 of the second Test, Mitchell Starc put up a strong showing, taking six wickets to cause an Indian batting collapse.
On the opening day of the pink-ball Test in Adelaide, Mitchell Starc deceived the Indian batting order by scoring an impressive 6/48 in the first innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal was bowled by the left-arm bowler on the opening delivery of the match, marking the third time Starc has accomplished the feat. Despite the momentum being broken by a 68-run partnership for the second wicket, Starc recovered well to cause an Indian collapse.
Despite the early dismissal of Usman Khawaja (13), Australia had a solid start, finishing Day 1 at 86/1 as India was all out for 180. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar insisted that none of the bowlers forced the Australian hitters to play, despite complaints of the Indian bowlers’ excessive length.

During the press conference following the first day of play, Starc was asked if he noticed a similar trend with Indian bowlers. However, Starc delivered a stinging one-liner that left the press room in stitches, being careful not to reveal any important details about bowling with the pink ball.
Speaking with a grin, Starc stated, “I am not their bowling coach.”
On the first day of the Australian innings, Jasprit Bumrah was the sole player to take a wicket. He got rid of Khawaja when he found an outside edge that went to second slip, where Rohit Sharma made an easy catch.
Meanwhile, Scott Boland and Pat Cummins, who each took two wickets, praised Starc. KL Rahul and Shubman Gill engaged in a tense stand until Starc disrupted the momentum by dismissing Rahul for 37. Australia didn’t turn around after that, as the left-arm bowler dismissed the dangerous Virat Kohli for just seven runs.
For the last wicket of the innings, Starc also removed the dangerous-looking Nitish Reddy. Reddy had taken an aggressive stance when he was supposed to form partnerships with tailenders, but he misplayed a fuller delivery from the left-armer Starc, giving Travis Head an easy catch close to mid-off.
Under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah, Team India defeated Australia by 295 runs in Perth, securing a decisive victory. The team has a significant struggle after the hosts acquired an advantage at the end of Day 1 of the Test in Adelaide, although Rohit made a comeback as captain for the second Test.
