The possibility of Pakistan hosting the Champions Trophy 2025 the following year is still up in the air. Pakistan has proposed that all next ICC events in India should follow the same concept if the Champions Trophy is conducted under a hybrid format.

The possibility of Pakistan hosting the Champions Trophy 2025 the following year is still up in the air. Pakistan has proposed that all next ICC events in India should follow the same concept if the Champions Trophy is conducted under a hybrid format. The BCCI appears to have responded forcefully to the Pakistan Cricket Board.

India’s forceful response against the PCB:

For security considerations, the BCCI has previously said that it will not be touring Pakistan. It is well known that the PCB has placed restrictions on the Indian hybrid model. However, the BCCI denied this. According to sources, the BCCI has determined that India does not have a security issue and that approving the hybrid model for ICC tournaments to be staged here is not a concern. The ICC has been informed of this by the BCCI.

Pakistan is furious that India will host the Women’s ODI World Cup the following year. In 2026, India and Sri Lanka will co-host the T20 World Cup. In addition, India will host the 2029 Champions Trophy and the 2031 ODI World Cup. Pakistan has made a fresh demand in this regard.

However, there has been a significant push in Pakistan over the past few days to free former Prime Minister Imran Khan from prison. There is widespread protests by Imran Khan’s followers. The Sri Lankan squad exited the series in Pakistan in this order. Three ODIs and two Test matches were played in Pakistan by the Sri Lanka-A squad. Despite these worries, however, they abandoned the series in the middle and returned home with two ODIs remained.
