With 18 points from 10 games, Goa moves up to third position after the victory, while Hyderabad lingers in 11th place with just seven points from the same amount of games.
With a 2-0 victory over his old team Hyderabad FC (HFC) at the Gachibowli Stadium here on Wednesday, FC Goa made sure their head coach Manolo Marquez could enjoy his 100th ISL game.
Goa’s victory also meant that Hyderabad’s poor home record, which has seen them lose 17 games since February 2023, persisted.
With Ayush Dev Chhetri, Udant Singh, and Armando Sadiku collaborating, the Gaurs controlled the opening fifteen minutes and made many incursions into the opposing citadel.
However, thanks to some astute maneuvers by Edmilson Correia and Ramhlunchhunga, the HFC defense was up to the challenge and even altered tactics. Stephen Goddard and Abhijit, both substitutes, nearly scored but lacked the final touch.
Thanks to a fantastic performance by Mohammad Yasir, Marquez’s Goa took the lead. In the 33rd minute, he ran down the right wing and attempted a lovely through pass to Udanta Singh, who ducked under a few players and took a good shot that put HFC goalie Lalbiakhlua Jongte off balance.

To the chagrin of the HFC camp, Iker Guarrotxena scored an opportune goal for Goa in the 44th minute after grabbing a quick, short ball from Armando and seeing his left-footed effort rebound off Stefan Sapic into the net.
HFC got off to a strong start in the second half. In the 59th minute, Sourav K attempted a close-range shot, but the Goa goalkeeper made a fantastic diving stop to keep it out.
Hyderabad attempted to get into the final third, but Goa’s defense held firm and stopped any threat.
With 18 points from 10 games, Goa moves up to third position after the victory, while Hyderabad lingers in 11th place with just seven points from the same amount of games.
