The words of Matty Healy
“Drowning in the Blue Nile / He sent me ‘Downtown Lights’ / I hadn’t heard it in a while” is the opening line of Guilty As Sin’s lyrics. Matty took to his Instagram Stories to present a version of ‘The Downtown Lights’ by 80s band The Blue Nile.

The 1975 frontman posted this with the message, “If you don’t know this cover, you are welcome,” according to Grazia. Swifties used this as sufficient evidence to conclude that Matty was alluding to the Guilty As Sin phrase, which may indicate that the song was about their brief romance.
This is not the first time that a song written by Taylor has been associated with Matty Healy. Many admirers conjectured that the songs “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and “The Tortured Poets Department” were also about Matty when the singer’s CD was released.
