With a focus on cricket’s success and a commitment to upholding Pakistan’s dignity and promoting equity in India-Pakistan tournament ties, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi alluded to a compromise on the 2025 Champions Trophy hosting format.

Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), responded to rumors that the country had agreed to a hybrid format for the 2025 Champions Trophy, which would have allowed India to play their matches in Dubai. He made a suggestion that he would be open to bending Pakistan’s original position of holding the event entirely there.

Mohsin Naqvi indicated a readiness to reach a compromise while addressing the Pakistani media during Saturday’s (November 30) India-Pakistan U-19 Asia Cup match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He underlined that making sure cricket wins in the end is still the top concern.

“A lot is going on right now, and I want to make sure that nothing I say puts the process in danger. India has offered its viewpoint, and we have offered ours. In order to guarantee that cricket is the real winner, everyone is putting a lot of effort into finding a win-win solution.

“The most crucial thing is to find a solution that lets everyone go on with their dignity unharmed. We shall follow the best course of action for the cricket match. Everybody participating will be treated equally regardless of the formula we choose—not the hybrid one,” Naqvi stated.

“There are a lot of factors to take into account, but ultimately, we are still focused on making sure cricket is the real winner. Pakistan’s dignity is the most important factor here. We are dedicated to preserving Pakistan’s reputation while making sure the game prospers, insha’Allah,” the PCB chairman continued.

Naqvi, however, blasted India’s biased strategy and said he was optimistic that the India-Pakistan conflict over the right to organize championships in both countries would finally be settled.

“I’ve always worked to stop the one-sided strategy in which we visit India but they don’t return the favor. The goal of everything that is taking place right now is to settle this issue permanently. It will guarantee equality for all parties, regardless of the result. I swear to you.

“I promise that the answer we come up with will not just be for the Champions Trophy, but also for the long run. It will deal with the difficulties that lie ahead and provide the groundwork for whatever happens in the years that follow,” Naqvi stated.

According to information released yesterday, the ICC gave the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) a deadline during their meeting on Friday, telling them to either adopt the hybrid model or face losing the opportunity to host the 2025 Champions Trophy entirely.
