Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, despite its enormous popularity, achieved some new records but failed to shatter a few.
Pushpa 2, which was released on December 5, 2024, has been a huge hit at the box office. The movie overtook SS Rajamouli’s RRR as the highest-opening film in Indian cinema history after grossing over Rs 280 crore globally on its first day of release.

The Pushpa: The Rise sequel, which starred Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, brought about Rs 360 crore worldwide. Within its first weekend of release, it is expected to surpass its predecessor’s total collection.
The bulky actioner has broken several records to date and has received generally excellent reviews.
Documents produced by Pushpa 2: The Law
Industry tracker Sacnilk reports that Pushpa 2 has shattered up to ten Indian film opening day box office records.
- Puspha 2 became the highest opening in Indian film history, shattering RRR’s record of Rs 223 worldwide.
- Pushpa 2: The Rule became the greatest opener in India with domestic earnings of Rs 175 crore, surpassing RRR’s Rs 156 crore.
- On its first day of release, it became the first Indian movie to make over Rs 200 crore.
- By earning over Rs 50 crore in two languages on its first day, the movie also achieved a new milestone.
- Pushpa 2: The Rule set a new standard for Indian movie history by shattering the opening day record of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan in Hindi.
- Additionally, the movie broke Kalki 2898 AD’s record for the largest international premiere everby an Indian film.
Records that Pushpa 2: The Rule missed
But even with its enormous success, Pushpa 2: The Rule didn’t break many records.
- With a staggering $4.47 million on day 1 (including premieres), Pushpa 2 has had an incredible start in North America. This is equivalent to 37.85 crores in Indian rupees. It did not, however, reach the $4.6 million opening collection of Baahubali 2.
- Pushpa 2: The Rule made $8.2 million (about Rs 68 crore) in the foreign market, falling short of Baahubali 2’s record of $10.25 million (Rs 85.18 crore).
- Pushpa 2 made Rs 7.7 crore on its first day of release in Tamil Nadu, although it trailed Baahubali 2 (Rs 17 crore) and even KGF Chapter 2.
- The movie almost missed Baahubali’s record of Rs 17.45 crore in Karnataka, earning Rs 17.25 crore on its opening day.
- Pushpa 2 sold 3 million tickets in advance on BookMyShow, but it was unable to equal Baahubali 2’s record of 3.3 million pre-sales.
