As the audience eagerly awaits Pushparaj’s entrance, each Pushpa 2 drop has succeeded in igniting a frenzy. It appears that Kissik hasn’t left a mark.
Since Pushpa: The Rise’s ‘item number’—the notorious Oo Antava—was revealed to the world in 2021, it’s safe to assume that Samantha shattered the internet.

As she lip-synced the woke and ultimately controversial lyrics and transitioned into choreography that became a hot topic of debate for months, if not years, Samantha looked amazing and commanded every frame of the camera.
Oo Antava was so incorrect that it was perfectly acceptable. If you combine this with the fact that the song’s lyrics really discuss the reductive male gaze, you might argue that the item number satirically flips the idea on its head.
A victory, however, given that it was released just months after Samantha and Naga Chaitanya announced their divorce and that the song’s “satire” finally bowed down in its presentation to what the male gaze wanted, the song was also met with criticism.

Ultimately, though, if people are still talking about a song years after it peaked, the creators must have done something well, right?

Returning to the movie, on December 5, Pushpa 2: The Rule will be released in theaters.
