Disney and Lucasfilm have confirmed that the popular animated anthology series Star Wars: Visions will return for a third volume in 2025.
The exciting news was unveiled on the first day of Disney’s two-day Content Showcase in Singapore, delighting fans around the world.
Volume three of Visions will return to its roots in Japan, featuring nine new animated shorts from some of the country’s most renowned anime studios.
The Japanese animation powerhouses involved in this next installment include David Production, Kamikaze Douga+ ANIMA, Kinema Citrus, Polygon Pictures, Production I.G, Project Studio Q, TRIGGER, and WIT Studio.
A Bold Creative Journey
Since its debut in 2021, Star Wars: Visions has been celebrated for its bold, imaginative approach to the Star Wars universe. The series stands apart from other Star Wars media by embracing non-canon stories and allowing a diverse array of Japanese animation studios to bring their unique artistic visions to life.
This freedom from traditional restrictions resulted in wildly creative interpretations of the iconic Star Wars mythos, quickly winning over fans and critics alike.
Success of Previous Volumes
The first volume of Visions premiered on Disney+ in September 2021, showcasing nine episodes created by studios such as Kamikaze Douga, Studio Colorido, Geno Studio, Trigger, Kinema Citrus, Production I.G., and Science Saru. It was met with near-universal praise, holding an impressive 98 percent score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and 81 percent on Metacritic, solidifying its status as a fan favorite.

Volume two, which debuted in May 2023, took a more global approach, expanding the diversity of its creative contributors.
This season included episodes from international studios such as Aardman (UK), El Guiri (Spain), Cartoon Saloon (Ireland), Punkrobot (Chile), Studio Mir (South Korea), Studio La Cachette (France), 88 Pictures (India), D’art Shtajio (Japan), Lucasfilm (US), and Triggerfish (South Africa/Ireland). Volume two continued the series’ success, receiving critical acclaim with a perfect 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and 88 percent on Metacritic.
