New Delhi: Virat Kohli scored his 30th Test century to signal his comeback to form as India defeated Australia by 295 runs to start their Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. Now that he is back in rhythm, Kohli stands a chance of setting a significant global record if he maintains his series-long run of hundreds.

Virat Kohli is on the verge of making history with his 30th Test century, his seventh in Australia. He would surpass England’s Jack Hobbs, who now holds the record with nine hundreds, and become the first visiting batter to reach ten in Australia if he hits three more in the current Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

With an incredible 610 runs at the storied Adelaide Oval, Brian Lara now owns the record for the most Test runs by a visiting hitter there.
At the Adelaide Oval, Virat Kohli has amassed 509 runs thus far. He would break both Sir Vivian Richards’ record of 552 runs and Brian Lara’s record of 610 runs at the venue if he scores a another 102 runs in the second Test match against Australia.
