A virtual meeting of the International Cricket Council’s executive board has been summoned to discuss the future of the Champions Trophy 2025, which Pakistan will host.
Rajeev Shukla, a Congress lawmaker and vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), stated that the safety of the players is still the board’s first priority and that a “hybrid model” is an option while discussing the potential of the Indian team traveling to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

“Our conversations are ongoing,” Shukla told ANI. After considering the circumstances, a decision will be made. The players’ safety is our first concern. There is also the option of hybrid mode; talks are ongoing.
To decide the future of the 2025 Champions Trophy and clarify if the competition would be held in Pakistan, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is scheduled to convene virtually on Friday, November 29.
Before reaching a final decision, the ICC Board will try to come to an agreement at the meeting, according to the ESPNcricinfo website. Although the ICC has not yet released the official schedule, the competition is set to take place from February 19 to March.
According to the newspaper, the summit will also discuss whether the tournament would be held entirely in Pakistan or under a hybrid format, in which Pakistan and another, as yet undetermined, nation split hosting duties.

The ICC informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in writing that India will not be visiting Pakistan for the Champions Trophy in early 2025, which prompted the meeting. Following consultation with the Pakistani government, the PCB is getting ready to voice its position during the talks.
India hasn’t visited Pakistan since 2008, when they played in the Asia Cup, because of tense political ties. The two bitter rivals last engaged in a bilateral series consisting of white-ball matches in India in 2012–2013. They now mostly compete against one another in Asia Cups and ICC competitions.
Citing security concerns, India has always upheld its stance against visiting Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. This position was recently reaffirmed by BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla, who said the squad will only travel to Pakistan with permission from the Indian government.
It is important to remember that Pakistan hosted the Asia Cup last year using a hybrid format, with the remaining matches taking place in Pakistan and India’s matches taking place in Sri Lanka.
